Mr. B. B. Rai |
The roles of the developmental voluntary organizations
have been grammatically changed during post independence era with the true of
change of developmental approach throughout the world. The roles of
developmental organizations become prominent along with different development
programs of the Government. Now these organizations are working with people in
a participatory way to motivate, mobilize resources, and initiate leadership
and build - up effective teamwork for self - reliance. In the long period of eighties,
like in the most of the other places of Sikkim, the young / youth generation of
the society was effected
and got diverted towards and unhealthy culture in every spheres of public life. Sikkim, a place well known for its rich
cultural, tourism and educational heritage since long, soon turned out to be
place of harrow and insurgency land slide prone, earthquake during nineties.
The employment problem has aggravated the situation in a big way. In those
views, the Manav Sewa Samiti (MSS) was established to guide as well as to
work as facilitator/trouble shooter for the society in the way of long run
sustainability of the poor and disadvantaged society.
Community based sustainable development is the basic of MSS’s approach to working with the
poor and oppressed across the impact areas. In fact it is not possible to
ensure total development of any society without equipping the family and the
community. Over the last one decade, MSS invested the
efforts in creating communalities that are independent. Our grass roots
development facilitator worked closely with community organizations on key
development issues. We celebrate several credible community formations that we
have had the privilege of partnering. Positive response from the society has given impetus to
our various initiatives that have beneficiaries across the social spectrum. MSS
stands as a well structured voluntary body with definite social aims and
objectives. It strives to focus on overall social welfare through various
initiatives. These activities have been executed with internal and external
resources in the respective areas through innovative drives and methods.
